Its only been only a few months since I came to Mumbai, I  got an opportunity to work on a national scale with the NASSCOM Foundation, I was given responsibility of the Connect IT programme and am fairly satisfied with how the Connect IT program has moved so far. Having finished off the NGOs training in Maharashtra I am currently working on content for Government Officers. This is indeed interesting. Come Mid March and I would be back in Maharashtra rolling this out. My stay in Mumbai has been very happening. There has been so much of activity that I have completely been absorbed in it. I have spent almost all my weekends travelling. I have travelled to lovely places and have almost been out of office everyday. My trips  to Hubli, Hyderabad, Pune, Sangli, Nagpur, Kolhapur have been memorable interesting.how about seeing a Gutka factory doing CSR in education :) a small mobile shop in Sangli called Global Communications. Its been quite a time.I was lucky to find accomodation near Andher

What does Internet mean for an Autowallah?

IT has impacted us in ways beyond imagination.Recently I was on my way back from the NASSCOM India Leadership Forum. I had just checked out of the hotel and was going to Andheri. I had some luggage with me and called an autowallah.I started talking with the guy as I normally do,we talked on a number of issues including the Mumbaikar's issue. In a midst of our conversation he broached on a topic that interests me a lot, how has IT made an impact in their lives and what does it mean to them. He said "Nowadays every one books tickets on the internet, earlier we used to get commission for dropping them to a hotel, we earned a few bucks, now people do not ask us to leave at a hotel they ask us to leave at an internet cafe,we used to research for hotels to suit our passengers now we look for internet cafe's nearby" Indeed times have changed, online bookings have made a dent on the income of these autowallahs. Its not for bad its added convenience to travellers and aided i

Social Media, IT Industry and the Digital Divide

With a plethora of Social media tools now available and with it now being a mainstream mode of real media communication in our country, a lot of questions arise. The most important one is "What does it mean for the general population of India?" Its a known fact that the Indian IT Industry does not permit access to social media at workplace. This is treated to be a waste of time and viewed as contributor to drop in employee productivity. This is a bit weird since the tech industry itself feels technology can be left out in the whole game. The most happening innovations that catch public attention are today happening on the web and this is bound to make a big difference to our lives. A thought that lingers is " Does that mean that in a world of  dot net and java programming, maturity models and  best practices are we shielding access to some ideas that are changing the way we connect? " This is something that the Indian IT Industry must really seriously look into.

This is by far the biggest confluence I have ever attended. Its an delight to be at the NILF. Even though this is a business conference it has been interesting to see the social development being highlighted in every panel discussion. There has been tremendous interest in the NASSCOM Foundation's work. The NASSCOM Foundation Social Innovation Honours were announced on the 1st day.Its been really good to see Gouri(my colleague's) effort see off in such a fascinating way.Maharashtra Chief Minister gave away the awards reco I have been asked to tweet and blog about the NASSCOM Foundation's work and it has been interesting so far, except when I do not get network connection of my docomo no is the hall where I find something really tweet worthy. I also attended a tweetup my first so far and it was a great experience. I have never seen so many industry stalwarts together, it is indeed a great learning experience. The relentless focus they have and the thought process reall
