I am currently in BAIF Research and Development organisation taking the first two days of the Management Development Programme(MDP). All the participants have been promoted to take up bigger roles in organisational development of BAIF.Its fun and exciting to meet up with grassroots managers from Rajasthan, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Maharashtra. I have known BAIF'S for some years now ever since I met Mr Prakash Bhatt Sir, he was the one who taught me what a PRA(Partcipatory Rural Appraisal means. I can say he is an authority on the subject. He was the one who made it possible for me to appreciate the knowledge at the bottom of the pyramid, not to impose development schemes but to listen and appreciate what people really need.Reminded of all that once again. I have also had the fortune of meeting Mr Hedge erstwhile head of BAIF, an IIMA passout, he gave us a talk on BAIF about 1.5 years ago. Its been a great day and I am very optimistic that IT skil

My changing roles and experiences

Ever since I left TCS I have made an effort to make the masses use ICT. I have spent time with school kids,  college students, principals, ngo personnels, ngo leaders, office boys. The idea is to make them understand what IT has in store for them. Can they work to setup efficient systems in the ngos so that they spend less time in unnecessary things and use their core competency. As I have worked I have had several experiences that I have cherished, hated or plainly wondered. I would like to put up one experience I would never forget, one that has made me much stronger. Once while marketing apnaIT's products to schools, I had the misfortune of meeting a principal. All went well for sometime until he asked what is your background? I honestly told him I worked for TCS for 4 years and the quit to use all my acquired skills for underpriviliged in the country. I expected him to be ok with what I said, but then what he said left me aghast. He said tell me , Cmmon be Honest. Has T

IT Capacity Building in Sangli,Maharashtra

So finally Twenty Ten as they say is here. Its the first working day of the year and I am off to Sangli ( http://www.sangli.nic.in/ ) . So it is not in line with New year festivities. I will be there to conduct IT Capacity Building for ngos. I was just seeing the Participant list and the organisations attending almost all of them have Indian names( happy about that) they normally end in Sanstha,Pratishthan,Mandal,Munch, Sangh,Committee,Society. There are about 50 participants for the workshop and counting. As always I and Vikas would be going there. Have to carry the standees and the banners.Hope the year is full of trips to distant places and I am somehow able to contribute to the grassroots.
