The new year ahead

Its been an eventful year for me have seen in a year what I could never imagine 2 years back. Right fro struggling to market the products to non profits to spending nights thinking and working its been a time that I will always cherish. Now I frequently travel and get to many places taking IT skills to grassroots non profits. The rewards are clearly there IT is integral to enhancing efficiency of these non profits. Be it in any sector we are finally warming up to the explosive work of IT applications for CAUSES. I will be spending some time this weekend reflecting on what I did, what can I best do. I am sure the coming year would take my work to another levels, would get a chance to meet new people and finally make things happen on a larger scale. I hope I would be in a position to contribute globally to ICT4D efforts. My best wishes for you on this new year. May all your dreams come true!!! Happy New year

Sangli is Next

Ok so we are done with Nagpur and more than 70 ngos from Vidharba have had the chance to learn the best of IT skills.I am personally happy to have been able to reach out through the NASSCOM foundation's Connect IT programme. Indeed I have seen so much of energy and enthuthiasm for using IT for enhancing organisation effectiveness. The more I interact with  ngos working at the grassroots, I feel a sense of wow !!!! finally the best of IT for people who need it the most. We would be heading to Sangli next and move the Connect IT programme further.

What is it in for me?

Over the last two years I have been asked many times by a lot of people on Why do I do all that I am doing. What do I get from all this? To be very honest I am just a normal youth who loves a good life, infact I cherish in having goodies in my life, think of the latest mobiles phones to buy,the sleekest plasma to adorn my room and live in luxury. But they are questions that I sometimes ponder on and these questions have provided directions to my life. Coming from an IT Industry backround, an Engineering degree I thought hard on issues that plague the country and what can I do to make things better One of the most important things is the reach of IT. With so much things being developed why has the IT revolution not reached the grassroots of the country? This country has always missed apolitical and irreligious connectors, we have not had someone who can bet his life to do just this, we need people who really believe in providing an opportunity to everyone and make IT work for all.

Advanced Excel Training for non profits

Image
apnaIT organised an advanced excel training for non profit organisations. The goal was to make non profits understand the powerful functionalities of excel that can really reduce the time they spend on analysing data. At Loggerheads Social Entrepreneurship and Social Work

Conventional Social work is often an act of charity accompanied by a sense of giving with no thought of taking anything from the beneficiaries. This is traditional and assumes that the beneficiaries have no money to pay up and nothing to offer and people who have goodies in life should give them to the needy. The non profit sector hence has three distinct stakeholders the Funders, ngos and the beneficiaries.Such a setup has been a success owing to philanthropy and good people who often are wealthy and wish to share the wealth when they feel they, have had enough in life. But then is this the right and the best way to carry out development? Imagine now a Social entrepreneur (Social Entrepreneurs is someone who serves the social causes with a business model) comes up with same kind of work but asks the beneficiaries some money for his services. The rationale for asking this amount is that he/she feels that this is the only way to sustain operations. The services he provides is novel and depe

Views from the back of my mind

Things look in better shape here and it looks like we have bore the first brunt of entrepreneurship with success.Although in the regular scramble for revenues and social impact we seldom get time to think of innovation, which I am sure to make apnaIT culture full of. I took a day off today trying to think on way we work.It is refreshing to know and understand that in a recessionist economy, we are serving the bottom of pyramid profitably. But the word that we need to act on always is INNOVATION
